Conservative management may include rest from precipitating activities and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, injection of hydrocortisone into the tissue IN FRONT of the tendon at the level of the distal palmar crease (MCPJ) will often settle early cases.
This procedure will be funded if the following criterion can be met:
- Failure to respond to conservative treatment (including 2 corticosteroid injections)
Cases for Individual Consideration
On a case to case basis, patients might be eligible for surgical intervention, in consideration of their exceptionality. The requesting clinician must provide information to support the case for being considered an exception, by submitting an individual funding request.
