Smartcard Enquiries
For all Smartcard enquires, call the RA Service Desk on 0300 303 2733 or log onto Supportworks self service portal https://selfservice.nelcsu.nhs.uk
To request a new smartcard, to add access to a smartcard holder or to remove access from a user's smartcard profile:
- log a call with the RA service desk on 0300 303 2733 or log onto Supportworks self service portal (https://selfservice.nelcsu.nhs.uk/) and raise a request.
- log onto the National Spine Portal "CIS" https://portal.national.ncrs.nhs.uk/portal/dt, follow the attached Guide to adding or removing user access, ensuring you insert the call reference number from the RA Service Desk into the notes field on the CIS request.
Logging a call
Once a call is logged with the helpdesk, the practice must raise a request in CIS within 3 working days or the call will be closed.
Smartcard Sponsor
To nominate a member of staff to be a sponsor, please complete the sponsor nomination form on headed paper. This must be signed by the sponsor. If you are nominating someone to be a sponsor, that person will need to complete full ID process at a face to face meeting with an RA agent.
All users who have been nominated to be a sponsor will need to complete the WebEX sponsor training. Please email nelcsu.ratraining@nhs.net to enroll on the next available sponsor training session. The user must state the call reference number, for the original request for sponsor nomination, when booking the online training course. Courses are run on the following days and times:
Tuesday - 11AM (Sponsor Training)
Thursday - 2PM (Sponsor Training)
Training
Training is recommended for all new Sponsors and Smartcard Administrators to provide an insight into the Smartcard policy. Please complete the sponsor training at https://digital.nhs.uk/services/registration-authorities-and-smartcards/registration-authority-training.
Please note: Registration to the e-LFH Hub is required prior to accessing training.
Smartcard Certification
Individuals are able to renew their certificates when they receive notification. Anybody with an '03' card should send it to RA for renewal (this relates to the number on the back of the card).
Satellite Sites
Each ICS area is set up with a satellite site where an RA Agent will be based for a day. The benefits is that anyone from that (or any other) area can make an appointment to attend the clinic and new users (subject to the production of the correct ID details) will be issued with a smartcard there and then at the pre-arranged appointment. Also, any users who are experiencing smartcard issues could attend to have their smartcard repaired or certificates updated. The RA clinic hours will be 10am to 3pm. Below are the locations, days and times of the RA clinics. Please note these clinics will replace the current system of RA Agents visiting individual sites. Please ensure you arrange an appointment at your chosen site via the RA ServiceDesk: Telephone 0300 303 2733 or via the Self Service Portal
